SC Thailand supports the improvement of education for primary students at upcountry schools in a focus area for 2 schools a year.
The Light Up project aims to train teachers to prepare students to survive changes in the 21st century.
The Power Up project is designed to improve students’ understanding of business and bridge the gap between student life and working life after graduation.
The Button Up project is aimed at primary school students who need basic facilities to maintain a healthy body and mind at school. In this project, SC Thailand supports the improvement of education for primary students at two upcountry schools a year in the focus area.
There are many remote schools that have insufficient facilities to accelerate students’ abilities. Some even lack proper drinking water, sports equipment and teaching materials. We would like to help improve these schools’ environments today, so that students will attend the school and love it as their second home. Eventually, they will return and develop the school themselves in the future, passing on what they have learned to younger people and thereby enriching lives and the world.
In FY2021, we arranged three learning bases for students. Each activity had its own purpose aimed at improving the students’ 21st century skills, such as creativity, critical thinking, or communication and collaboration. Each base featured a reward, and once the students completed the task, the school received a reward for their efforts. This system makes the students feel proud to help improve their school.
It’s not only the students who learn about communication and collaboration. In addition, SC Thailand (SCTL) staff members also collaborate to prepare small gifts for the students.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we prepared small gifts and encouragement cards to cheer up the students during life under the pandemic situation. With support from 89 staff members, we successfully delivered gifts to all 299 students this year. In return, students wrote thank you cards, which were hung on a “gratitude tree” and sent back to our office. We displayed the tree at the front entrance to the office.
